Sub-seasonal and statistically selected seasonal climate predictions
In September and October 2022, the DWD’s climate predictions website has been updated to include sub-seasonal climate predictions for Germany in addition to seasonal and decadal predictions for Germany, Europe and the World.
To complement the seasonal climate predictions, statistically selected seasonal climate predictions for Germany have been added, with improved prediction skill for the winter season.
In order to enhance our user-friendliness, we included a new category with frequently asked questions (FAQ) and published a tutorial film (in German) to explain how we measure and indicate the prediction skill of the climate predictions on our website.
Our goal is to present a user-friendly and tailored website that offers a consistent selection of available climate predictions and corresponding prediction skills for different timescales (weeks, seasons, years) and varying spatial scales (German cities and regions, Germany, Europe, World).
